
Michael L. Palmer, M.D. is a 1982 graduate of the University of Kansas School Of Medicine where he also completed his surgical training in 1987. Following the completion of his General Surgery residency, Dr. Palmer attended Roswell Park Cancer Institute for a two year fellowship in Surgical Oncology.
Dr. Palmer remained at Roswell Park after his fellowship as an Attending Surgeon and an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the State University of New York at Buffalo. While an Attending Surgeon at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Dr. Palmer was Associate Chief of the Breast Department, as well as a member of the Gastrointestinal and Endoscopy service.
Dr. Palmer joined Foxhall Surgical Associates in 1993. He is Board Certified in General Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is currently serving an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Georgetown University Medical School. Dr. Palmer is a member of The Society of Surgical Oncology, The Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons, the D.C. Medical Societies, as well as other medical organizations. He has been named by The Washingtonian Magazine as one of the top surgical specialists in the Washington D.C. area.
Dr. Palmer’s main areas of interest include: benign and malignant diseases of the breast, sentinel lymph node surgery for breast cancer and melanoma, thyroid and parathyroid, gastric, colon and intestinal surgery, as well as endoscopy. Dr. Palmer’s interests also emphasize hernia repairs, and laparoscopic abdominal surgery of the intestine and gallbladder.
